Derby Green Wins Quality Award for the Fourth Time
Lisa Bohlman, administrator at Derby Green Nursing Home, was understandably thrilled when received the following letter from the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living. Not only had they won the Quality Care Award but they are the only nursing home in Vermont to have won four times!

We are pleased to inform you that your facility is one of the four nursing homes selected to receive this year's Nursing Home Quality Care Award. Your facility was selected for this honor based on specific measures of quality of care, environmental safety, and efficiency factors. Congratulations!
In addition to a certificate of recognition, your facility will receive a check for $25,000. The residents, resident council, and facility staff may decide to use this money in any way they see fit to further improve quality of life or care.

The criteria for winning the award are as follows:
1. The most recent health survey report resulted in a score of five or less, no deficiency with a scope and severity greater than “D” level, with no more than two “D” level deficiency in the general categories of Quality of Care, Quality of Life, or Resident Rights.
2. No substantiated complaints in previous 12 months related to quality of care, quality of life, or resident's rights.
3. Designated Gold Star Provider.
4. Resident satisfaction survey results above the statewide average.
On Wednesday, May 23rd, Patrick Flood and Mary Shriver, Dir. VT Healthcare Association visited Derby Green to present the award. Residents, hospital staff and administration were present and enjoyed a reception of cake and punch.
“We plan to use the money to place new flooring in our dining room and to improve the bathing experience that will include renovations to our c-tub room as well as a new whirlpool tub. The staff and residents are excited for the renovations to begin,” said Bohlman.
“We could not have received this award without the true dedication and quality care all my staff give each day to our residents.
